When Seasons Change
Summertime is on its way out. My little guy is back to school and my husband’s back to work. I’m so looking forward to Fall – my favorite season ever! Living here in Florida, we don’t get too much of a season change, but it’s better than the 95-degree dog days of Summer with a heat index of 105 – or higher! We have two Florida maple trees in our front yard with leaves that change a vibrant shade of yellow in Fall, no matter how warm it may be outside. I love gazing at them and hearing the crunch of leaves under my feet.
Isn’t our Father so gracious to give us seasons? Whether it’s the new birth that comes with Spring, the leisurely days of Summer, the cuddly days of Winter or the apple-cinnamon days of Fall, His glory is always on display!
Just like I love the season of Fall, we all know some seasons in our lives are better than others. But we can rest assured that our faithful God is up to something good in our lives, no matter the season. What can we learn when the days drag on longer than we want them to or when circumstances tempt us to be bitter and cold? What about when we’re missing that precious loved one during the nostalgic days leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas?
Praise is fitting for every season of life - all because we serve a faithful God who never changes! May we trust God at all times and look for His faithfulness around every corner…whether it’s a season of joy or one of hardship.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8; NIV
Heavenly Father, thank you that You never change. As we move into the next seasons of our journeys, may we rest in You. We know you are faithful and will lead us to those places that are ultimately for your glory and our good - even if it doesn’t feel that way. You are the creator and sustainer of all things and we know we can trust You in every season of life. Help us to trust You more. Amen.
