Praise God in the Battle
Wait. What? Praise God in the midst of the battle? Shouldn't I praise God after I see how it turns out and what if I don't feel like praising Him? That's not even how praise works, or at least that's now how I think it should work.
But what if that's how God works?
What if praising God in the battle is what brings the victory?
In 2 Chronicles, King Jehoshaphat of Judah was faced with fighting an army that was set on destroying Judah, and after seeking an answer from God was told that the battle wasn't even his to fight.
'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. - 2 Chronicles 20:15
This was such great news to the Israelites that all they wanted to do was praise and worship God and that is what they did! Not only did they praise him the night before the battle, but they also placed a praise team in FRONT of their army that led them into battle. That is how confident they were that God would keep his promise to them. And guess what God did? He fought the battle for them, and they never had to lift a finger. They only lifted their voices in praise.
Are we really that confident that God will fight our battles for us? And shouldn't we be since His word is as true today as it was then?
I am tired of fighting battles that are not mine to fight. I am choosing to lift my voice in praise to God in the midst of my battles, because He fights for me too. He is also fighting for you.
Who wants to join me?
